Knowck, a manufacturer of smart signage products, will soon be making a full-fledged entry into Southeast Asia’s smart city market.
The K-ICT Born2Global Centre, a major Korean government agency, announced that Knowck, one of its member companies, recently completed the application of its “smart building media system,” which utilizes CloudCast technology, to a premium apartment complex in Korea (Seocho Prugio Summit by Daewoo E&C). Building on this recent success, Knowck will be expanding its offering of this service to all of Southeast Asia.
Equipped with Knowck’s CloudCast technology, the over 50 display screens that have been installed each the apartment complex are all linked together through a cloud server. They include bulletin boards for various types of notices and “digital nature” screens that display images of natural landscapes. The content displayed on these screens can be easily and conveniently changed remotely via smartphone.
With the growing number of smart cities worldwide, it is expected that the use of digital signage based on CloudCast technology will increase.
Knowck received this year’s Prime Minister’s Commendation and the KOBACO CEO Award in 2015 for CloudCast. In 2013, it was included on the list of Red Herring Global 100 companies. Being simultaneously acknowledged at home and overseas for its technological capabilities is a rare accomplishment for a Korean startup.
CloudCast is a digital signage enterprise solution that connects various types of heterogeneous displays, including TVs, electronic street displays, and extra-large media facades found on high-rise buildings. To ensure the timely screening and display of content on these different types of displays, the company operates a control center that integrates and organizes all multimedia content involved.
Among Korea’s Olympic stadiums, the one with the largest digital signage installation is Phoenix Pyeongchang Resort. This signage is being used as one of the key PR media installations for the Olympic Winter Games Pyeongchang, which will be held in February 2018.
Currently, Knowck is introducing its CloudCast technology to a growing number of regions in Southeast Asia. Since 2016, after signing an MOU with TOT Public Company, Thailand’s largest telecommunications company, in 2017, Knowck has been supplying CloudCast to a theme park in Penang, Malaysia. Through such business agreements, Knowck is now stepping up the pace in its expansion into the Southeast Asian market.
