  • Born2Global Signs MOU with Renault Group on Joint Support for Overseas Debuts of Promising Mobility Companies

  •

On August 28, the world-class automaker Renault Group and the K-ICT Born2Global Centre (Born2Global) signed an MOU to cooperate in finding promising Korean companies specializing in mobility technologies and supporting them with their debuts in overseas markets.

The MOU aims to have Renault Group and Born2Global work together toward the effective cultivation of promising companies in the mobility industry.

The cooperation of the two organizations will be focused on: searching for promising technology companies, establishing connections and planning support programs with global networks, hosting seminars and Demo Day events, providing R&D consulting services, assisting proof of concept efforts, and facilitating connections in terms of investment and M&A. All of these support efforts will be carried out using the professional manpower and platforms of Renault Group and Born2Global.

In October, Renault Innovation Office will be opened in the Born2Global’s Startup Campus. Born2Global offers support for promising domestic technology companies.

Aiming to create an environment conducive to sustainable entrepreneurship and realize greater cooperation with startup companies that possess innovative technologies, Renault Group has established three Open Innovation Labs around the world (Paris, Silicon Valley, and Tel Aviv). The technologies developed by startup companies in the Open Innovation Labs undergo a screening process conducted by Renault Group, after which Renault Group assists the startups in securing investment, finding M&A opportunities, and growing their businesses.

Director of Project and Innovation, Stephen Marvin of Renault Group said, “With a high car sales rate compared to the size of the population and advanced IT and IT environment, Korea is the perfect testbed for verifying new technologies before their release in the global market. The MOU with Born2Global is an excellent way for Renault Group to find talented technology firms with the potential to become our partners. We will thus do everything we can to support the overseas expansion and growth of these companies after their vetting in the Korean market.”

Chief Executive Director, Jongkap Kim of Born2Global said, “I am looking forward to our two institutions cooperating through the MOU with great anticipation. Renault Group is already providing substantial support for promising technology companies here in Korea and will be a significant help in finding partners of great value to both of us. The synergy that will be created based on our Born2Global’s expertise in corporate support and Renault Group’s extensive experience will not only enhance the competitive edge of domestic technologies but also help create a virtuous cycle of success overseas, which will encourage more companies to enter foreign markets.”
